SunEnergy has acquired 200,000 acres of land in the iconic Flinders Ranges in South Australia to design, construct and own a 50MW Solar Farm. This will be a grid-connect installation where the solar energy output will be available to Australian Corporations and Government Departments on a national basis. Californian solar projects are under review.
We have two smaller installations in the Flinders Ranges at Wilpena Pound and Parachilna. The Wilpena Pound installation has been operating for ten (10) years.
The new installation is located south of the Leigh Creek coalfield and north of the 760MW Flinders Power Station. A train with one hundred and sixty one (161) wagons and nearly three (3) kilometres long, transports coal from the Leigh Creek coalfield to the Augusta coal power station.
SunEnergy is combining eco-friendly tourism with this Solar Energy Farm working closely with Ross and Jane Fargher, proprietors of the famous Prairie Hotel at Parachilna. The six (6) million old Ediacara fossils are to be found on the SunEnergy Solar Farm.
